Double Dare Ya
My graduate project at NTU investigated how we could look at sustainable design differently. I conceptualised a system whereby instead of buying all new garments and outfits each season, consumers could buy pieces to add to an existing garment. The inspiration for this came from the punk sub-genre in which my younger sister is a part of, and I was intrigued by how often she would change up her clothing but how rarely she would buy new pieces.
The title for the project 'Dare Ya' came from the famous punk band Bikini Kill song lyric
Dare ya to do what you want,
are ya to be who you will'
I wanted to demonstrate how a change in our approach to fashion could not only benefit the planet but also enrich our relationships with our wardrobe and help us to form a stronger sense of identity, divorce of the influences of mainstream media.

As part of my degree, I have written an academic piece titled 'Dare ya to do what you want: How could punk's DIY agenda serve as an antidote to fast fashion?', as well as a conference paper on the same subject, and short journalistic piece. All of which I have linked below, please feel free to read, and quote from (referencing appropriately).
